South India comprises the states Andhra Pradesh, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, and Goa as well as the union territories of Lakshadweep and Pondicherry. The Beaches
The beaches are more fascinating and treasured tourist attractions in Southern India. With endless stretch of golden sands, gentle waves, and splattering blue waters South India beaches are quite promising for water sports and holidaying. Marina beach- the world’s second largest beach is in Tamil Nadu – gives a fascinating experience of sunset and sunrise. Hill Stations
South India hill stations are prominent for tea gardens, beautiful waterfalls, coffee and spice plantations, natural caves and Lakes. Much of South India’s exotic appeal is centered in the highland area of the Western Ghats. Rising to an average height of 1520 m, the tropical forests of the area are home to rich green flora and fauna. The scenic beauty of these hill stations and clean and fresh air are the perfect retreat for any holiday occasion. Munnar, Kodiakanal, Coorg, Nilgiri Hills, Ooty, Araku Valley, Wayanadu and Coonoor are some of the major hill stations in India.
Architectural wonders
Tourist can see a large number of temples, churches, mosques, Budda and Jaina pilgrimage centers in South India. These pilgrimage centers are incredibly beautiful, with the architectural designs exemplifying the ancient times. South India is the birthplace to many art forms like Kathakali, Bharatanatyam, Kuchipudi, Carnatic music, Kalarippayattu, Yakshagana, Theyyam etc. These traditional folk art forms have been originated in various states in southern part of India more than a thousand years ago. Deepavali, Onam, Pongal, Dasara, Goa Carnival and Makara Sankranthi are some of the popular and widely celebrated festivals in different parts of South India. Even in this modern era, these art forms and festivals are celebrated without losing the ancient custom and culture.
