Meeting New People Is Part of Vacation Fun
Meeting New People Is Part of Vacation Fun
By Bonnie Tweed
One of the most enjoyable aspects of a vacation is the opportunity to meet new people. Resort vacations in particular tend to be great opportunities to meet people from all over the world, from all backgrounds.
People vacation to relax and escape the everyday routine. Most folks you’ll encounter at a resort are doing exactly what you are doing (escaping and relaxing) creating an atmosphere that is friendly and welcoming.
You’ll meet people staying down the hall as you pass coming to and fro. You might strike up a conversation poolside or at the patio lounge. It is not uncommon to meet fellow vacationers at the restaurant, the marina, the bait shop or the golf course.
Dont overlook the staff when seeking new friend making opportunities. Friendly staff members usually enjoy getting to know their guests and can offer off site activities, events and especially love to share the authentic places that make their area unique. How about a loved local restaurant with a native chef? Or directions to an isolated shore for a private swim.
Sharing an experience brings strangers together in a unique way. Often, visitors from outside the country will need answers to specific questions about how things work in the states and a willing participant of this type of conversation can often learn a lot about another country while explaining our own.
Sharing little discoveries you have made at your destination is always appreciated by others who are unfamiliar with an area. Having located the nearest grocery store, a great restaurant or an antique shop, are some of the topics that might be shared.
Talking to new people can spark new ideas. Some vacationers are well traveled and share information on the places they have been. Guests who stay at the same resort year after year sometimes agree to meet their new friends again the next year by scheduling their vacations at the same time. Often times they even agree to meet at other destinations.
Of course there is always the possibility of running into someone you know or recognise. The statement “it’s a small world” is used because many times we see people from our own areas even if we travel thousands of miles away. It just might be “karma” so take a minute and strike up a conversation with someone you think you know. You might be surprised to find a new friend from your own neightborhood.
Kids are great at making new friends and grown-ups can learn by their example. Put a smile on your face and just say, “Hello!” You might make life-long friends you’d have never met otherwise.

The very heart of your writing whilst sounding reasonable at first, did not really sit perfectly with me personally after some time. Someplace within the paragraphs you managed to make me a believer but only for a short while. I still have got a problem with your leaps in assumptions and one would do well to help fill in all those breaks. When you actually can accomplish that, I could definitely be amazed.
